J. Monnic Smith has been a professional
communicator for the past 20 years. Her Albuquerque based communications
company was founded in 2004 because she recognized a need for
individuals, small businesses and non-profits to have access to marketing
without exhausting their budgets.
Not only is she committed to providing
excellence but she is also passionate about helping people use communication to
transform their lives. This is achieved through personalized training and
workshops. She’s also been instrumental in inspiring youth and others to become
more powerful and better expressed in their personal communication. Her
philosophy- “Your Ability to Communicate Powerfully Determines Your Success.”
Considered an engaging, inspirational speaker
and performer, she gives presentations and performances on over ten different
topics ranging from Organizational Communication, Marketing, Interpersonal
Communication and Personal Development. She also does live performances of
poetry and song from a book of her personal writings “Dichotomy”.
Before opening JMS Communications, Monnic held
communication, marketing, reporting, anchoring and on-air talent positions in
public and commercial broadcasting. She also held administrative, marketing,
teaching and management positions in education and private business in
Albuquerque, NM, Kenner, LA, McComb, Ms, and Magnolia, MS where she acquired
experience in marketing, advertising, writing & voicing commercials, editing
video and audio, customer service, media relations, motivational speaking and
training youth.
Monnic is active community, religion and
professional organizations. She serves as the head of marketing for her
congregation, and gives back to the community by teaching youth and seniors.
Professional organizational membership is with the Hispano Chamber of Commerce
and she's a past member of National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO)
and affiliates with Association of Women in Communication. An Award winning
journalist, Monnic is a recipient of a William Randolph Hearst Award for
broadcasting and New Mexico Press Award.
